Who We Are

SEARS GROUP TRUST

We are Sears Group Trust (the Trust for short), a registered charity that can provide assistance to relieve hardship for former employees (and/or their families and dependants) of a Sears company – please see the list below.

As a former employee of a Sears company you, or someone you know, may be eligible for assistance from the Trust. If you think this may be the case, do please contact us with the relevant details (naturally with the permission of the individual, if you are doing this on behalf of someone else).

How we can help

The Trust can help individuals to claim relevant State Benefits such as Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance, Housing and Council Tax Benefit and Pension Credit. 

The Trust may also be able to offer financial assistance in purchasing items such as:

•  Electric/mobility scooters specialist beds; rise and recline chairs

•  Contributions towards the cost of installation of stair lifts

•  Home furnishings items

•  Electric equipment and “white goods”, for instance fridges; freezers; ovens; washing machines

*  Help towards the cost of home repairs/general maintenance

•  Grant payments

 

Conditions

Applicants need to be able to provide evidence that they were employed by one of the companies within the Sears Group (see Homepage).

Students and those who were employed on a “casual”  basis are not eligible for assistance.

The Trust usually requires an applicant to be in receipt of appropriate State benefits or in the process of obtaining State benefits before an award can be considered.

The Trustees are obliged to undertake a financial assessment before a Grant can be considered/awarded.

The Trust is unable to contribute towards funeral costs or long-term residential care fees.
