Sears Group Trust Donations to Charity Link (formerly known as Leicester Charity Link) and retailTRUST.

Sears Group Trust has, for many years, supported and worked alongside Charity Link and retailTRUST – each of which are like-minded charities which may be known to many of you.

These charities provide invaluable assistance and support to vulnerable people and sadly their services have never been more essential than they are now.

Charity Link serves those in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, overlapping areas where many former employees of the Sears Shoe businesses live.  retailTrust helps individuals/families employed in the retail trade and its reach extends nationwide. In recognition of the exceptional services they perform and given the extraordinary challenges they are facing, Sears Group Trust has made special donations to each of Charity Link and retailTrust to support them in their work at this time; the Directors are sure this will be a great help to them both.

Capita Employee Benefits (“Capita”)

In 2013, Capita were awarded a five year contract to administer the Sears Retail Pension Scheme (“the Scheme”).

This arrangement was reviewed towards the end of 2017 and the outcome is that the Trustees have decided not to renew Capita’s contract. We have been disappointed to find that, in recent times, Capita’s service levels have not come up to required standards; we have therefore decided to move the Scheme’s administration to an alternative provider. This will take a few months to implement and we will let you know when the new arrangements are in place.

In the meantime, we will closely oversee and work with Capita to try to improve service standards to more acceptable levels.

Capita will continue to pay members’ benefits, as instructed by us, until the administration transfer is complete.

You should therefore continue to direct all queries or changes in your circumstances to:

Furthermore, the Sears Scheme’s assets are held in the name of the Trustees – as they have always been – and remain totally separate from and are nothing to do with Capita or its businesses or its pension schemes.
